Shavuot Wedding Vow Renewals, 5767 / 2007
As our Father in Heaven took the Children of Israel as His wife in Exodus 19 and 20, He re-affirmed His vows to her in Acts 2 with the giving of the Ruach HaKodesh as the Sign of the faithfulness of His promise. Following our Father's example, the married couples of the congregation have chosen to do the same. They came before the Bridegroom of their souls and their brothers and sisters in faith and re-affirm the vows they took when they first married their spouses. We thank our Father and Sovereign Master for bringing us to this joyous day.
I will betroth you to me forever; I will betroth you to me in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love and in mercy. I will betroth you to me in faithfulness. (Hosea 2:21-22) Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm; many waters cannot quench love, nor can floods drown it. I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine. (Song of Songs 8:6, 7 and 6:3)
