Who We Are And Who We're Not
WHO WE ARE
We are Savior loving, Torah toting, Shofar blowing, Kippah covered, Sabbath keeping, Kosher eating, New Moon sighting, Sacred Name honoring, Reunification of Two Houses into One United Israel (Ezekiel 37:15-22) teaching Torah Observant Believers in Y'shua! Whew!!
Seriously speaking, we are a family of faith that holds the Scripture in the original languages as the infallible Word of the Almighty YHVH Tz'va'ot (may His Name be praised forever!). We believe that Y'shua of Nazareth is the Messiah who was promised in hundreds of scriptural prophecies. We are filled with and led by the Ruach HaKodesh (Set-apart / Holy Spirit) thus operating in the gifts of the Spirit.
Our goal is to rediscover the truth that was taught to Messiah Y'shua's talmidim (disciples) in the first century CE and restore it to the Body of Believers today. We want to live each day loving our Creator, YHVH, and the Messiah He sent to save us, Y'shua. We demonstrate our love for Him by obeying Torah to the best of our ability and loving our fellow man, thus being a continual sacrifice of praise before Him.
WHO WE'RE NOT
We are not members of any one organization. The only authority we submit to is our Creator as revealed by the Written Word. Over the centuries, traditions of men have been embroidered onto the faith, we have made a conscious decision to return to a scripture based lifestyle.
We are not "Jews for Jesus." Jews for Jesus is primarily a missionary group of Baptist origins whose focus is converting Jews to Christianity, not just introduce Jews to their Messiah. As we understand their mission, they are not in favor of messianic congregations and are not a part of the Messianic Movement. Since we believe the Torah still stands, the Commandments still valid and the Feasts of YHVH eternal, we are not Jews for Jesus.
We do not believe in the Noachide Doctrine. This doctrine in essence says that the Commandments are for the Jew; the non-Jews or Gentiles are obliged only to keep the "Seven Noachide Laws." There are no Noachide Laws listed in Scripture! But the Torah does repeatedly say that there shall be one law for the Israelite and the same law for the foreigner, i.e., those wishing to attach themselves to the House of Israel. In crossing over from a western Gentile mentality to a lifestyle based on Torah, we are not followers of the Noachide Doctrine.
We do not believe in or teach the Lunar Sabbath. This belief is basically that both the month and the week start with the sighting of the renewed moon. The result of this is pure confusion: The weeks may have two Sabbaths within a couple of days of each other or (worse!) a 10 or more day week. Also, weather conditions may obscure the clear sighting of the moon resulting in neighboring communities observing the Sabbath on different days. YHVH is not the author of confusion. In the giving of the double portion of manna on the sixth day, Israelites were instructed by Elohim Himself when the Sabbath occurred. Therefore we are not believers in the Lunar Sabbath.
We are not Orthodox Messianics. We keep the commandments out of wanting to demonstrate our love and devotion for our Creator / Redeemer / King. We do not obey to earn salvation or make our Creator obliged to us in any way. In our congregation, traditions of men are clearly explained as such and are not presented as commandments. We realize that some traditions are useful in helping us remember Torah or the history of the House of Israel. In all things we must study to show ourselves approved, and prove all things and hold fast to that which is good. So in following Torah instead of traditions of men, we are not Orthodox Messianics.
We are not Christian. We keep the Feasts of YHVH as listed in the Book of Leviticus, chapter 23. Thus, we do not celebrate Christmas or Easter; neither do we take communion, rather we observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread. We do not engage in the traditional Christian feasts such as St. Patrick's Day, St. Valentine's day, All Soul's Day or All Hallows Eve. We observe only the scriptural feasts such as those listed in Leviticus 23. The feast days of Purim which commemorates events found in the Book of Esther, and Hanukkah which is mentioned as "the feast of dedication" in John chapter 10 as well as in the apocryphal books of the Maccabees are recognized as episodes of YHVH's saving grace. Thus, we are not Christian.
In striving to return to the "Faith once delivered to the saints" by Y'shua himself, we have found true freedom.
We're not out to build monument's to man's success or abilities. We are ALL called to be a nation of priests ministering to YHVH! Realizing that we are each worth a half-shekel (the ancient scriptural Temple tax for redemption), there are no titles here. If our Master, Savior, Bridegroom and Sovereign can be known by His first Name, then surely we have no need of titles! Titles only serve to separate us into an "us" and "them" mentality. There are no special drives to fund, no pastor's salaries to pay, no collection plate is passed. If the Ruach Elohim leads you to share with us what He has given you, your funds will help feed the poor in body and soul both in this community and in Israel and also help underwrite our expenses.
Come join us for worship! We're sure you'll find a refreshing change!
Shalom v'brachot -- Peace and Blessings!
