Dear Fellow Lovers of Messiah,
As the annual Holocaust Remembrance Day approaches, many pause to consider the atrocities of the Holocaust and World War II. It is becoming too prevalent that some are claiming, as Iran has promoted, that the Holocaust never happened. Therefore, we feel it is more important than ever to declare "we will not forget!" thus making sure the lies don't creep into our history books and that the truth of these events will never be erased from our memories and the memories of generations to come. To quote Ruth Minsky Sender, a Holocaust survivor, "If we forget the past, it could happen again. We must learn from those horrors. We must learn what happens when people remain silent while others are persecuted. We must learn ... not to ignore the ugly signs, the danger signs." 1
This year, the Holocaust Remembrance Day is Sunday, April 27, and we have received approval from the city of Lake City to host a Remembrance event that will begin with a march in silence to the park downtown, where there will be music, speakers, and information to share. We invite and encourage you to participate with us as we choose to remember and stand with Israel, the apple of God's eye. 2
Please join us as we bring to remembrance the events of the Holoaust, the rebirth of the nation of Israel and the promises made in the Word of God. Please register on the Remembrance Walk Sign Up page and let us know you are planning to participate and give an estimate of how many in your church / congregation will join us. We look forward to working together! Contact us via email at Lake*City*Remembers (remove asterisks) [at] yahoo [dot] com.
